Divemaster
Start your Professional Dive Career off right with our total immersion Divemaster Program. After you enroll in our Divemaster Program, you will be assigned a mentor who will personally guide you through the course; however, all the BICD Instructors, Captains and Managers contribute to our extensive Divemaster curriculum.
As you are trained to become a Divemaster, we will help you develop your leadership potential and problem solving skills through theory and practical experience. Theory presentations will include lectures as well as hands-on training seminars. During the BICD’s Divemaster Program, not only will you read about recompression theory, you will experience it with a ‘dry dive’ at the Utila Hyperbaric Chamber.
The practical experience comes when you intern with our Instructors as they teach a variety of SCUBA diving courses. It is also possible for you to intern with a certified Divemaster for a week on the Utila Lodge dive boat. This is real life Divemaster experience on a high-end resort dive boat.
Of course, a great Divemaster must know more than how to change an o-ring. Not only will you be the seeker and finder of all the sea’s creatures you must also be able to identify them. For this reason, our instructors offer optional reef fish and coral presentations. Also, the Whale Shark Oceanic Research Center (WSORC) is next door. WSORC is a great opportunity to learn more about the ocean’s largest fish and if you complete their whale shark distinctive specialty, you are then welcome to assist on their data collection trips.
At the Bay Islands College of Diving, your journey through our professional program will be full of diverse experiences, challenging but successful skill development and friends from around the world. The Divemaster course is the foundation of a successful future in the recreational diving industry; make the most of it at the Bay Islands College of Diving!
